Texas WingNuts Incidents

We would like to say the sport of Powered Paragliding is incident free, but we can't.  Accidents happen, but with proper training and equipment the risks are reduced.  Since mid-2004 when I entered the sport, we have seen our numbers locally grow from the 30 or so to numbers now well over 100 local pilots.  We have had one pilot struck by a vehicle as he was unloading his gear, some scraped knees,  one messed up ankle and another messed their wrist/lower arm.  The most serious injuries were related to individuals getting their hands in the prop.  The most recent was the father of a pilot from Lebanon without any knowledge of the equipment controlling the throttle for his son.  Another was a tumble related injury requiring stiches.  The first known local incident was a case of a pilot at 2 am with excessive alcohol flowing through his veins showing off for friends in his garage.

The more potential life altering events are described below.
